Junior distance runner Katy Moen finished in 12th place overall in the 10,000-meter run on day two of the NCAA Track and Field Championships, earning second-team All-American honors.

Moen, who was the lone Cyclone to compete June 12 in Eugene, Ore., finished with a career-best time of 33 minutes, 32.18 seconds.

Moen is now the seventh Cyclone in program history to finish in the top 15 of the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Championship.

Moen kept pace with the leaders through the first half of the race, and with just 150 meters to go, she was able to knock off five other runners, which gave her the 12th place finish.

Iowa State will continue to compete in the NCAA Championship, which ends June 14. Moen will compete again June 14 in the 5,000-meter run.
