FBI searches for ISU alumnus
June 2, 2014
The search of a San Francisco apartment has prompted the FBI to call on law enforcement across the nation to be on the lookout for an ISU alumnus.
Ryan Kelly Chamberlain II, 42, is wanted for possession of explosive materials after San Francisco police, federal agents and hazardous material crews swarmed his San Francisco apartment on May 31.
Chamberlain, who is currently on the loose, is considered to be armed and dangerous.
In a news conference on June 1, FBI spokesman Peter Lee said that Chamberlain is believed to be traveling in a white Nissan Altima with Texas or California license plates reading 7FQY085 or BX9M042. His destination is currently unknown.
Chamberlain is 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Lee said that Chamberlain is believed to be acting alone, but the FBI is not sure of his ties or networks.
Chamberlain graduated from Iowa State in 1993 with degrees in journalism and political science. He wrote music reviews for the Des Moines Register in 1995 and 1996.
The search warrant used to enter Chamberlain’s apartment, as well the apartment itself, remains sealed, Lee said.
