On the final day of the NCAA west regional track meet, the ISU track and field team earned two more bids to the NCAA Championships. Distance runner Katy Moen earned her second NCAA berth on May 31, and redshirt junior Kelly McCoy also earned her spot at the championships.

Moen placed third in her heat of the 5,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 16:20.56. Moen, who ran with the leaders for the majority of the race, finished 10th overall in the region.

Moen, who also won the 10K race on May 29, joins just two other ISU runners in program history to run in both the 5K and 10K races at the NCAA Championships.

Freshman Bethanie Brown finished 11th overall in the same event; however due to her place of her heat, she will not be advancing to the championships. Brown finished with a time of 16:19.63.

McCoy earned her first career bid to the NCAA Championships on May 31 after clearing the bar at 5 feet, 9.75 inches. McCoy, who entered the meet ranked 32nd, finished seventh overall. Her jump puts her at the fourth-best height in ISU outdoor history.

Iowa State will travel to Eugene, Ore., from June 11 to June 14 to compete in the championships. It will send seven athletes to the championships to compete in eight different events.
