The Foundry will be a six-story, 53 unit building that will replace the old Campus Book Store in Ames.

A six-story, 53 unit apartment complex will be replacing the site of the old Campus Book Store, The Opus Group announced May 2 in a news release.

Located across from the Memorial Union, Opus released plans for The Foundry, an apartment building which will include 53 units, 144 bedrooms and 7,500 square-feet of ground-level retail space.

The Foundry will feature two- and four-room bedrooms as well as a large fitness center, study lounges, game room, private heated underground parking, common areas and on-site retail options, according to the news release.

“The Foundry will be a one-of-a-kind space, setting the standard for high-quality student housing at the front door of campus,” said Jason Conway, director, real estate development, Opus Development Company, LLC, in the news release.

Preleasing for The Foundry has already begun. Demolition for the Campus Book Store is planned for later in May of 2014.

The Foundry is expected to be finished by August of 2015.
