Music festivals
Everyone knows what a concert is no matter if you have been to one or not. Concerts and music festivals are a commonly known part of our popular culture. Just like art exhibits there is a different type of concert for different types of music fans. Some famous concerts are Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Bonnaroo. Most of these concerts are two days or longer so if you are a dedicated music fan these are for you.
Lollapalooza is famous in the Midwest. The Chicago based concert caters to the pop lovers by having some mainstream artists. Mostly the festival caters to the indie scene. This year it is being held August first through the third. This year the line up includes big names like Eminem, Lord, and Zedd. However it also includes names like Cash Cash, Blood Orange, and Jungle. Since this music festival is several days you will need to pack like a champion. Since the first day has lots of pop music wearing some jean shot cutoffs and a crop top with some wedge tennis shoes. You would like to be cute and comfortable. (For those of you who would rather wear flats converse would do nicely as well). The second and third day have a more indie vibe so wear a sundress with some hair flowers one day and the other day some high-waisted lace shorts with a tucked in loose graphic tank.
Coachella is in Indio, California. The concerts use multi-media as a way of capturing attention. Light shows happen behind bands signing their hearts out. There are three stages set up for the entire three days of the festival. Bands play on all three stages at the same time during the whole three days. If listeners do not like a particular singer they can move to a different stage. Concertgoers have the option to pick out of three bands every time new sets starts. The tickets start at $375. The outfits for this concert are different than Lollapalooza because California is much more laid back and don’t care what you wear. Some people wear sleeveless bro tank, backwards cap, and cutoffs. While others wear ankle boots, flowy dress, and a jean vest. At this concert wear whatever you are comfortable in. Strappy sandals are a must though because of how hot California is in the summer. Accessorize with some gold bangles to feel right at home in the concert atmosphere. This concert is truly for everyone because even if you don’t like the artist you have an amazing light show to amuse you.
Bonnaroo is a four day Music and Arts Festival on a farm in Manchester, Tennessee. This concert scene also has multiple stages with genres like indie rock, world music, hip hop, jazz, Americana, bluegrass, country, folk, gospel, reggae, electronica, pop, and alternative. This concert is the concert for everyone. It is by far the most diverse of all the concerts. Music plays from noon till 4 am or past. The main focus of this festival is folk rock. There are other attractions besides music including artisans selling, comedy tents, cinemas tents, silent disco, and even a ferris wheel. Rolling Stones labeled this event as one of the “50 Moments That Changed Rock & Roll”. The name Bonnaroo means “a really good time”. Since this concert is indie rock based pull out that rocker t-shirt and those motorcycle boots. Anything with spikes goes at this concert. Ripped shirts? You go it. Pull out your inner punk for this event. If you want to be even more out there try to mix some indie in with your punk outfit. A flower here and there next to the spikes and you will fit right in.
If music is your passion these are the shows for you. There are many more so explore and have fun with it. Clothing is so closely related with art and music that you wear clothing for how the music makes you feel. Just remember to bring the essentials. A pair of cropped shorts can be worn several days if necessary. Also don’t forget the dry shampoo!
