Cyclones wrap up competition at three different meets this weekend

The ISU women’s track team had a busy weekend, as the team had athletes competing at the Kansas Relays, Mt. Sac Relays and the LSU Alumni Gold meet.
Katy Moen and Sam Bluske kicked off the action at the Mt. Sac Relays thrusday evening.
The duo ran the 10,000-meter race, which saw Moen shatter her personal record in the event by over a minute en route to a seventh-place finish. Bluske took 15th place in a stacked field.
In Kansas, Heidi Engelhardt took third place in the 1,500-meter race on the same night.
Competition on Friday was again highlighted by the distance runners at Mt. Sac, but this time it was Maggie Gannon and Crystal Nelson, who was making her outdoor season debut after sitting out the indoor season.
Gannon beat her own personal record by 2.5 seconds in the 1,500-meter event en route to a sixth-place finish.
Nelson opened up her outdoor season in the 5,000-meter race, where she took 12th place with a time of 15:49.90. The time was the third-fastest time in the event in school history.
In Kansas, the women’s distance medley relay team, consisting of Maddie Nagle, Colleen Riley, Maryn Lowry and Heidi Engelhardt, took third place overall.
Saturday’s action for the Cyclones was primarily at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. Ese Okoro continued to impress in the 400-meter hurdles with a third-place finish with a time of 57.21.
Hannah Willms took third in the high jump event with a top jump of 5’09.25″ and Kendra White notched her fastest time of the season in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.56.
Christina Hillman made her outdoor season debut, after she said she wouldn’t be competing this weekend a few days prior. Nonetheless, Hillman threw 56’11.50″ en route to a second-place finish in her surprise debut.
Fellow thrower Kayla Sanborn set a personal record of 189’03” in the weight throw event on her way to a second place finish.
After being split up among three separate meets this weekend, the team will all be together next weekend as the only meet currently on the schedule is the Drake Relays.
