After getting his hands on a mysterious invention that receives signals from the extraterrestrial world, DJ Bix the Bug becomes one of the most popular DJ’s on the planet in this science-fiction film, “E.T.X.R.”

After struggling to find the right sound for his music, Bix discovers that his friend Curtis has just completed constructed a device known as a “Tesla Scope.” The device is supposed to be able to communicate with extraterrestrial life forms, which is does indeed.

There’s only one problem though. Curtis needs help in interpreting what his Tesla Scope is receiving, which seems to be music from out of this world.

This is where Bix comes in to help, but rather than doing that, he decides to incorporate the music he is receiving from the Tesla Scope in his shows. He even fires up the Tesla Scope during his performance, which is actually pretty cool and makes the crowd go nuts.

After rapidly gaining popularity, everything is fun and games for a while for Bix. That is, until he finds out that some other shady characters have decided to come after the Tesla Scope for their selves.

The movie brings the trippy fashions of sci-fi film and electronica music together. It has a lot of things that are visually pleasing to the eye, but the main focus on this film is in the music.

Music and visuals aside, all other aspects of this film are average at best. The plot is bad, the storyline is bad, and the character development is bad.

I know it’s a science fiction film, but it gave me the feeling that I needed to be on psychedelic drugs in order to make more sense of this film. That is mainly because the film hardly makes a bit of sense.  I also feel like the costume Bix wears is just a bad rip-off of Daft Punk.

If you’re still interested though, the film is now available for streaming on Netflix, or can be purchased from retailers like Amazon or iTunes. The runtime on this movie is short, running only 78 minutes, so you don’t have to dedicate a huge chunk of time to it.
