Netflix binging

Scott Strehlow

Netflix is basically a gift from the Gods, let us be real. No other company offers their variety of instant digital streaming with a low monthly rate. The wide range of movies and TV shows is astounding, and we are even seeing a shift in film with the addition of “Netflix Originals”. Shows are being created with the primary purpose of Netflix exposure.

What can students get out of this service? Everything. Netflix caters to each individual’s taste and adapts based on user history. But once we open that red tab, how in the hell are we supposed to know how to pick anything? We all have our own personal taste, but this list could help you with some much needed decision making.

With any initial streaming, it is strongly urged to make it through at least ten minutes for a movie and at least one episode for a show. Having the ability to watch so many titles leaves us anxious with high expectations. It is important to give a show the proper chance before tossing it aside to the do-not-watch pile. Remember that sometimes you initially hated what you live for today. I can safely say I speak from experience (ie New Girl).

Now go forth, find your next vice and break out the snacks- it’s Netflix time.
