Social Media Specialist: Client Account Management

General Summary:

The social Media Specialist role is responsible for the ongoing management and growth of a local, large client’s social media presence in alignment with business strategies and direction.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop marketing and communications plans that leverage the social media space.
  • Responsible for helping to develop content across owned and earned social channels. This could include tweets, status updates, photos, and videos.
  • Creates, manages, and grows business presence across social media channels, including, but not limited to Twitter and Facebook. Future responsibilities as account grows may include Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, blogs, and Instagram.
  • Leverages measurement tools to provide progress reports and mine insights, while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge and classroom experience in planning, managing, and executing social media initiatives.
  • Working knowledge and aptitude in planning social media programs that span owned (e.g. Blogs), earned (e.g. Facebook) and paid (sponsored tweets).
  • Knowledge of Digital Marketing current best practices and understanding of Digital production processes.
  • Knowledge of research tools and evaluation of results.
  • Knowledge of media strategy and planning options and the media role in integrated communication.
  • Self-starter. Must ask questions and learn new skills quickly on the job.
  • Driven, team player motivated to take responsibility and ensure successful outcomes across activities
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects.

Experience/Education:

  • Advertising/Marketing/Communications/Public Relations major preferred.
  • Knowledge of and applied classroom experience with social media platforms, including, but not limited to Facebook, foursquare, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, and Google+.
  • Experience with leveraging social media management and analytics tools, such as HootSuite, Visible Technologies, Radian 6, and/or Crimson Hexagon.
  • Knowledge of and applied classroom experience in writing, editing, and crafting content for the social media space.
