ISU senior forward Melvin Ejim was named Big 12 Player of the week, the league announced this morning.

On Saturday against TCU, Ejim scored 48 points on 20-of-24 shooting, both of which are now personal and Big 12 records. Ejim also brought in 18 rebounds, which was a career-high. The 48 points was second-most in ISU history, only behind Lafester Rhodes’ 54-point performance in the 102-100 overtime win against Iowa in 1987.

On Monday, Feb., 3, Ejim scored 22 points in a triple-overtime thriller against No. 19 Oklahoma State, winning 98-97. Ejim grabbed 13 rebounds in the winning effort to snap Iowa State’s 18-game losing streak at Oklahoma State, dating back to 1988.

Ejim is averaging 19.8 points per game to lead the Big 12. He also averages 8.6 rebounds per game, which is third in the league.

Iowa State is on the road tonight against West Virginia. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
