February 1, 2014
The No. 18 Cyclones found success Saturday, when they took on Arizona State in Tempe. Iowa State won six matches on the night, defeating the Sun Devils 21-12.
All-American Kyven Gadson led the Cyclones, getting the pin over Arizona State’s Josh DaSilveria. Gadson’s win Saturday marks his 25th straight dual win, a record for the redshirt junior.
Another highlight on the night came from redshirt freshman Quean Smith. Smith forced an overtime period after being down 1-0 for most of the match. Smith rallied, however, and scored a takedown during the extra period, winning 3-1.
With the win, Iowa State improves to 8-3 overall on the year, and 1-2 in the Big 12. The Cyclones will wrestle again next Saturday, when they travel to Cedar Falls to take on the No. 8 Panthers.
