Iowa State breaks losing streak with overtime win against Texas Tech

The No. 20 ISU women’s basketball team (15-4, 4-4 Big 12) defeated Texas Tech (6-13, 0-8 Big 12) 85-76 in overtime. The win against the Lady Raiders Jan. 25 snapped the Cyclones’ four-game losing streak.

Iowa State started the game with two 3-pointers but quickly got down to Texas Tech 18-8 in the first half. The Cyclones battled back before half time to cut the Lady Raiders’ lead to just two.

Iowa State came out of the locker room and went on a 10-0 run to lead 47-42 with just under 17 minutes left. TTU guard Ivonne Cook Taylor responded with a 5-0 run of her own.

The second half was back and fourth before TTU guard Amber Battle tied game 72-72 with a basket in the final seconds of regulation. The Cyclones started overtime with a 9-2 run before winning by nine.

All five of Iowa State’s starters scored in double-figures against Texas Tech. Junior guard Nikki Moody and senior forward Hallie Christofferson led Iowa State in scoring with 20 points each.
