‘Elvis Lives’ at Des Moines Civic Center
January 21, 2014
The King is dead, long live the King. Of Rock and Roll, that is. “Elvis Lives“ is a tribute to one of the most iconic stars in the history of Hollywood, Elvis Presley.
The Des Moines Performing Arts will be hosting this one-night only event at the Des Moines Civic Center.
This live musical will walk you through his life and feature another tribute artist to Ann-Margret, played by Lorri Russo.
“Elvis Lives” will feature a live band, dancers, and singers in addition to the tribute artists. A new exhibit of life-size images courtesy of the Graceland archives will be on display in the lobby during the show.
The Elvis performers have been selected from Elvis Presley Enterprises’ annual worldwide “Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.” Winner Bill Cherry and finalists Kevin Mills, Leo Days, and Ben Klein will represent Elvis during different stages of his movie and music career.
The “Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest” made Stephens Auditorium its first stop on its tour in 2010. Since 2007, ETAs from around the world have been invited to participate in the competition.
The final round is held in Memphis, Tennessee and the winner receives $20,000, a contract to perform with “Legends in Concert,” and other various prizes.
