The No. 20 ISU women’s basketball team (8-0, 0-0 Big 12) defeated Cal State Fullerton (1-7, 0-0 Big West) 79-52 on Sunday. Iowa State is off to its best start in 11 seasons.

Three Cyclones scored double-digit points against the Titans. In addition to senior forward Hallie Christofferson’s 33 points, freshman guard Jadda Buckley scored 11 points and sophomore guard Nicole “Kidd” Blaskowsky added another 16 off the bench.

Turning Point

With 18:02 remaining in the second half Buckley scored from beyond the arc to give Iowa State a 34-27 lead. The basket was Buckley’s first points of the game and the first three-pointer for the Cyclones.

Iowa State went on to out score Cal State Fullerton 52-17 in the second half. After going 0-9 from three-point range in the first half, the Cyclones went on to shoot 4-4 in the second.

X-Factor

Hallie Christofferson — Christofferson scored a career-high 33 points against Cal State Fullerton. Her old record of 32 points was set against North Dakota earlier this season.

Christofferson shot 11-16 field goals on the afternoon and made 10-10 free throws. She also had eight rebounds and an assist against the Titans.
