With the holidays approaching, getting gifts on a college student’s budget can be tricky. Making a homemade gift such as a peppermint sugar scrub is a good alternative to spending money.

The holidays are a great time for giving, but if you are short on cash like many college students, it can present a challenge. Take some time and have a do-it-yourself Christmas this year. Your friends and family are sure to appreciate the homemade gift.

If you are looking for a way to turn food into something else, here’s the perfect DIY gift. A peppermint sugar scrub for hands and feet is a perfect gift for anyone in the family, and you can use items that you would normally find in your pantry.

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

2 cups white granulated sugar

1/4 cup almond or coconut oil

A few drops of peppermint extract

Red food coloring

Mix together sugar, oil and peppermint extract in a bowl. Separate the mixture into two bowls. Add a few drops of red food coloring to one of the bowls to give it the color of a candy cane. Take an empty jar or clear container and layer the sugar mix, alternating between white and red layers.
