The Lowdown

Iowa State made 15 3-pointers in a rout of UNCW at Hilton Coliseum Sunday, winning 95-62. 

Naz Long filled in and started for the injured Melvin Ejim again in the season and finished the game more than tripling his career-high with 26 points on 9-12 shooting, hitting eight of his 11 3-pointers in the process.

The team finished with 15 3-pointers, which was two shy of Iowa State’s all-time record of 17 coming against Kansas at Hilton last year.  

Turning Point

With 10:20 left in the first half the score was 14-13 with the Cyclone leading. Then Iowa State finished the first half on a 38-9 run sparked by a Matt Thomas floater. 

X Factor

Naz Long – The sophomore Canadian more than tripled his career-high with 26 points, going 8-11 from behind the 3-point line.

Long started for Melvin Ejim, who is still sidelined with a left knee injury. Long added two rebounds and two assists to the box score as well.
