MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State made it six wins in a row against Iowa State, this time with ease.

The Wildcats defeated the Cyclones 41-7 on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kan. With the win, Kansas State improved to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 play while Iowa State fell to 1-7 and 0-5 in the Big 12.

The loss eliminated Iowa State from bowl contention this season.

Iowa State got out to a quick start on offense after receiving the opening kickoff, earning three consecutive first downs. Completions of 12 yards to Dondre Daley and 11 yards to Justin Coleman from Sam Richardson with a 13 yard burst by Shontrelle Johnson got the ball into K-State territory quickly.

A false start penalty on offensive lineman Daniel Burton stalled the ISU drive and Richardson’s scramble on fourth down forced the Cyclones to turn the ball over on downs.

Kansas State got off to an equally quick start with a 21-yard pass from Jake Waters to Tyler Lockett. Waters followed that up with a 23-yard rush with the drive culminating in a 9-yard run to the right side by John Hubert for the touchdown and a 7-0 KSU lead with 8:40 left in the opening quarter.

Another ISU false start on the succeeding possession put Iowa State in a second and long situation and two incomplete passes by Richardson forced a Kirby Van Der Kamp punt.

The next play by the Wildcats was a 54-yard Hubert run up the middle that set up a KSU field goal. Jack Cantele knocked through the 44-yarder, giving Kansas State the 10-0 lead.

After forcing the Wildcats to a three-and-out early in the second quarter and facing a 3rd and 4, Richardson’s pass to a wide open Justin Coleman sailed over the receiver’s head and was picked off by Ty Zimmerman.

Grant Rohach was substituted on the next offensive possession for Richardson midway through the second quarter. Rohach led the ISU offense down the field with 26 passing yards and seven rushing yards, but the drive ended after a 47-yard field goal miss by Cole Netten holding Iowa State scoreless throughout the first half.

Kansas State was able to go on a 12-play, 71 yard drive with 41 seconds left in the second quarter that was capped off by a Daniel Sams 1-yard touchdown run for a 17-0 KSU lead at halftime.

Kansas State’s received the opening kick of the second half and took nearly five minutes off the clock on a 9-play, 49-yard drive that ended in a 42-yard field goal by Cantele. The kick gave the Wildcats a 20-0 lead early in the second half.

The Wildcats tacked on a 3-yard touchdown by Hubert with 10:57 left in the game. Kansas State struck again with 28-yard pass from Sams to Tramaine Thompson to give the Wildcats a 34-0 lead.

An interception from Rohach led to a three-play drive by Kansas State and a 9-yard touchdown run by Robert Rose to extend the lead to 41-0. Darius White recovered a fumble at the KSU 10-yard line.

The next play was a 10-yard run to the left by DeVondrick Nealy for the touchdown to keep the Cyclones from being shutout.
