The Big 12 publicly reprimanded ISU forward Melvin Ejim after he directed an obscene gesture at the student section after fouling out in the second half during Iowa State’s 90-88 victory against BYU in Provo, Utah on Wednesday.

Ejim apologized on Twitter following the win. Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby issued a reprimand Friday.

“Mr. Ejim violated Conference rules that require game participants to conduct themselves in a dignified manner, and exhibit respect and courtesy towards game officials, other institutions and their employees, students, and fans,” Bowlsby said in a news release “I appreciate that immediately after the contest he accepted responsibility for his behavior and apologized on his own volition. I am also grateful for the expedient and professional management of this matter by Jamie Pollard and Fred Hoiberg.”
