The Lowdown
Iowa State out rebounded a taller North Dakota team 44-40 and opened its season with an 84-55 win in Hilton Coliseum on Sunday, Nov. 10.
Hallie Christofferson had a career-high 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting and collected 11 rebounds. Nicole “Kidd” Blaskowsky also recorded her first double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds with four made 3-pointers.
The Cyclones won their 19th season-opener under the direction of ISU coach Bill Fennelly.
Turning Point
With 3:16 remaining in the half, the Cyclones had a slim 35-32 lead. The Cyclones went on a 12-2 run to push the lead to 47-35 at half with North Dakota not able to cut the lead any closer for the rest of the game.
X Factor
Hallie Christofferson — The senior had a career game, scoring 32 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in 31 minutes of play. The preseason All-Big 12 selection recorded her 12th career double-double.
Christofferson also went 7-of-8 from the free throw line. She has now made 37 for her last 39 at the charity stripe dating back to last season.
Her 32 points is the most since Anna Prins’ 32-point effort against Oklahoma last season.
