Review: ‘Marc Maron: Thinky Pain’
October 16, 2013
Marc Maron stars in his hilarious Netflix-exclusive comedy stand-up special, “Thinky Pain.” If you are wondering where the title “Thinky Pain” comes from, you will find out what it’s about during the show.
Maron is a 50-year-old man who is probably best known for his Internet podcast entitled “WTF with Marc Maron.” I have never been a listener of his podcasts, but after watching his comedy special I may reconsider. He also is known for “The Marc Maron Show,” a late-night comedy radio show in Los Angeles.
The special starts with a discussion with Maron and one of his good friends. During their discussion, he answers several questions about his career and what brought him on to perform his stand-up special on that night.
Maron is someone that is not afraid to speak his mind, and that is something to love about any stand-up comic. He will have you asking, “Did he really say what I think he just said?” And yes, he most likely did say it.
Maron is also able to find humor out of everyday life events. He also speaks about religion, fashion, lifestyle, veganism, drugs, health and much more. If you are easily offended, it is probably not for you.
I really admire that Maron tells it like it is. He has the guts to say things that not many would get up on stage and say in front of others. Not only that, but he tells it in a side-splitting fashion.
Like many other stand-ups out there, he is vulgar and offensive to others. If that is what you’re into, this is a stand-up special that is downright hilarious. It’s definitely worth the watch for any stand-up fans out there.
If you’ve got 90 minutes to spare, watch it. You will not regret it.
