Alternative Wrapping with Magazine Bows
October 31, 2013
The season of giving means lots of great presents for friends and family. Nearly every present under the tree is wrapped with holiday paper. Make your gifts stand out with alternative wrapping paper.
The choice of wrapping paper is almost as important as the gift itself. Instead of using the traditional holiday wrapping paper or gift bags, make that person feel more special by using the DIY wrapping below.
Have some old magazines lying around? You can turn a magazine into a cute bow for any size gift. You can even wrap the presents in newspaper or an old map. This will make a simple gift look great. It’s also great for men and women, young or old.
Here’s how:
Begin by cutting a magazine lengthwise into 9 strips, ¾” wide. Leave 3 of the strips full in length. Cut one inch off 3 of the strips. Cut two inches off 2 strips. Cut the last strip down to 3 ½” long.
Twist each strip to form a loop at both ends and staple it in the center. Shape the last short strip into a circle and secure it with a glue dot.
Layer the three longest pieces on top of each other, spacing them evenly and securing each with a glue dot. Add the next two groups of pieces, doing the same. Lastly, stick the loop into the center.
