ISU soccer comes up short against TCU
October 24, 2013
The ISU soccer team fell to Texas Christian on Friday by a score of 1-0 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Cyclones fell to 8-8-2 on the season and are now tied with the Horned Frogs and Baylor for fourth in the Big 12.
Iowa State outshot Texas Christian 22-8 and had three shots hit the crossbar, but none of them crossed the goal line. It marks the fifth time this season the Cyclones have been shut out.
The Horned Frogs scored by Michelle Prokof with the goal with 23 minutes remaining in the game. The TCU goalkeeper recorded nine saves against Iowa State while ISU’s Maddie Jobe recorded one save with one goal allowed.
The Cyclones qualified for the Big 12 Championships for the first time under ISU coach Wendy Dillinger with Oklahoma unable to win enough games to pass them to end the season. The Big 12 Championship starts Nov. 8 and goes through Nov. 10.
Iowa State will cap off its season with a home game against Oklahoma State 7 p.m. next Friday.
