It was a story of offense on Saturday night for Cyclone Hockey (11-2-1, 3-1-0 CSHL).

One night after being shutout by its conference rival Ohio (8-3-1, 1-1-0 CSHL), Iowa State’s offense exploded and the defense held off a late comeback for a 4-3 win.

Iowa State got the scoring started early in the first period when Trevor Lloyd was able to put the puck into the net off an assist from Mike Dopko. The goal was Lloyd’s eighth of the season.

Iowa State kept the scoring going in the first period when the Cyclone point-leader Jon Feavel was able to score at just under four minutes into the period. The goal, Feavel’s sixth of the season, came off an assist from freshman defenseman Eero Helanto.

The Cyclones scored once more about halfway through the first period when Scott Antonsen netted the puck for his second goal of the year. The assists on the goal came from Alex Stephens and Nate Percy.

Ohio was able to get one back on the Cyclones in the second period when Brett Agnew scored the only goal of the period for the Bobcats on a penalty shot to bring the score to 3-1.

Iowa State scored in the third period when Antonsen picked up his second goal of the night, giving the Cyclones a 4-1 lead. Percy also picked up his second assist on the goal, while Antti Helanto picked up his first assist of the evening.

The Bobcats did not go down easily though; Brett Agnew scored his second goal of the night 13:37 into the final period bringing Ohio within two goals.

Just minutes later, Ohio was able to get another goal from Tyler Benson, bringing the team to within one goal of the Cyclones. The ISU defense was able to hold down the stretch in bringing the Cyclones the win.
