The ISU soccer team fell to in-state rival Iowa 3-0 Friday night at the Iowa Soccer Complex in Iowa City. It is the Cyclones’ second straight loss, bringing their record to 3-2.

The Hawkeyes displayed their offensive attack early, keeping the ball on their half of the field for much of the first half. ISU goalkeeper Maddie Jobe made her first save just three minutes into the game.

Iowa midfielder Ann Marie Thomas scored the first goal of the night in the 11th minute. The Hawkeyes scored again in the 24th minute off a header to bring the score to 2-0 at the half.

The Cyclones struggled to keep the ball away from the Hawkeyes in the second half, with Iowa sending the final dagger through the net 64 minutes into the game.

Iowa State mustered only four shots in the entire game, while Iowa managed five shots in the first half and seven shots in the second.

Jobe made four saves to the three allowed goals. Iowa goalkeeper Hannah Clark remained undefeated and recorded her third straight shutout.

The Cyclones will be back in action against North Dakota on Sunday, Sept. 8, at home.
