Stephens Street Team
September 30, 2013
Getting the word out about shows coming to CY Stephens auditorium is now a little easier with the help of Stephens Street Team.
Created just this year, Stephens Street Team is an organization made of Iowa State Students who will focus on promoting the Performing Art Series.
It isn’t clear on exactly who started the organization among the marketing staff at Stephens, but the idea was brought up at a weekly meeting.
The marketing staff researched street teams around the nation and asked they did to promote their own versions of the Performing Art Series.
The team will work closely with the interns and full-time marketing staff at Stephens and get hands on marketing experience, while helping brainstorm ideas about how to reach out to ISU students about the shows touring at Stephens.
The Street Team will help think of ideas for social media sites that the staff and interns at Stephens will post on Facebook and Twitter. There will also be a “Meet the Street Team” on the CY Stephens web page.
“They’re going to be our eyes and ears on the front line of how we can market to students better and reach them better,” said Angela Ossian, marketing director for CY Stephens.
The organization is application based, which the staff at Stephens will pick through and host interviews. Out of the 40-50 applicants that will go through the interview process, about 12 students will be chosen for the Street Team.
Applications were due September 27th.
The date of the first meeting hasn’t been decided yet, but after the first meeting the team will have a better idea on how often they need to meet.
Eventually there will be leadership positions available to those participating in the Street Team.
The overall goal is to get the students at Iowa State more involved with the Performing Art Series. The marketing team thinks the Street Team will provide fun new ways to engage students at ISU with the shows at CY Stephens.
“I’m really excited for the energy that they’ll bring and the ideas that they’ll bring to us,” said Ossian
