Ames will have three more national retailers to offer residents in the fall.

Sports Authority and Petco’s buildings are under construction on SE Fifth Street, east of Duff Avenue near Target. Construction began on these buildings in early March, and is expected to be complete by the end of fall.

Sports Authority offers a wide range of sports and exercise equipment, and athletic apparel. Petco is a full-service pet supply story.

The two will share a strip-mall style, 40,000-square-foot building.

The empty space in North Grand Mall between Shoe Carnival and TJ Maxx will be filled by GAP Factory Store. The North Grand management said they don’t have an exact date for the store to open, but it will be some time this fall.
