The ISU soccer team traveled to Vermillion, S.D., and defeated South Dakota 3-1 on Sunday to improve its record to 2-0 on the season.
The Cyclones were led by the seniors, with all three goals being scored by a veteran.
Erin Green gave the Cyclones their first score in the 12th minute and was assisted by fellow senior Emily Goldstein. The goal was Green’s first of the season.
After the Coyotes tied the score at 1-1, the Cyclones took control of the game in the second half. Goldstein added a goal of her own to make the score 2-1 before Jennifer Dominguez capitalized on a defensive error to extend the score to 3-1.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper Maddie Jobe collected five saves and allowed only one goal. She is currently fourth overall in all-time saves for the Cyclones with 234.
The Cyclones will play their first home game Tuesday against Western Illinois. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
