Educational Background: Colbert earned his undergraduate degree from Iowa State, then his Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been teaching at Iowa State for almost 25 years, and has instructed nearly 10,000 students.

Advice for Students: “Even though coming to class is ‘optional,’ it’s a really bad idea to miss,” Colbert said. “I find that a lot of my students don’t realize that the expectations in college are a lot higher than the ones they had in high school. Students should also go talk to their professors, what matters most to me is seeing that a student cares about the class and learning the material.”
