Lawmakers came to a bipartisan decision to restore student loan interest rates Wednesday, July 17. Voting to make the decision final is scheduled to start as early as Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

After several failed attempts to reach an agreement, the breakthrough happened just one day after a meeting with President Barack Obama to discuss further action on the interest rates.

The decision could set interest rates back down through 2015, until skyrocketing again, much like they did on July 1.
