Mosquito fogging in Ames’ city parks will begin on Monday, June 24 and continue through the Labor Day weekend.

Residents who are planning large events may call the Ames Parks and Recreation Department at (515) 239-5950 to request a specific park to be fogged.

Mosquitoes can carry several diseases and it is important for people to protect themselves from bites. The most effective way to eliminate mosquitoes is to remove standing water from residential areas.

Residents should also remember to apply mosquito repellent to prevent bites, or wear long sleeved shirts and pants.
