From the editor: Get involved
May 17, 2013
Dear fellow Cyclones,
I want to first welcome you to Iowa State University and to the Ames community. You will find a homey, welcoming feeling as you begin “your adventure” here at the university.
I hope you find everything you need, and more, in this year’s CyGuide: Our orientation guide for incoming students. This guide is unique because it is made by the students here at the Iowa State Daily, for students at Iowa State.
As a junior this year, I have had my fair share of painful and exciting experiences. Nothing beats storming the field at Jack Trice Stadium on a bitter November night when the football team knocks off the No. 2 team in the nation. Or when you bomb that first college exam.
Regardless, you will be building bonds and friendships during the next four years here at Iowa State. And to help those bonds flourish, I want to give one piece of advice: Get involved.
Becoming involved in your campus is one of the greatest services you can do for yourself. Whether that is being a reporter for the Daily or a representative for the Criminal Justice club, interact and test out the waters.
I wish you the best as you begin your journey at Iowa State and hope you find everything you are looking for in this orientation guide, as well as the university.
