The ISU men’s golf team signed new recruit Ruben Sondjaja, on April 29, 2013, from Sydney, Australia, said coach Andrew Tank.

Sondjaja is one of Australia’s top junior golfers, being selected to Australia’s 2012 junior team and going undefeated at the Trans-Tasman Cup. He was also a semifinalist at the 2012 Australian Amateur.

The new recruit has competed internationally, as well, finishing 16th at the 2012 Calloway Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, Calif. 

In 2013, Sondjaja was named captain of the New South Wales junior team and played in the Australian Interstate Matches. He placed second at Australia’s oldest event, the Riversdale Cup. 

Sondjaja will be the second Australian on the roster along with sophomore Sam Daley, and the third player from Oceania, joining Daley and New Zealander Duncan Coudis.
