Dance clubs prepare for Veishea
April 18, 2013
With Veishea quickly approaching, many student organizations on campus are preparing to showcase their talents and have various events planned to do just that.
DubH Dance Club
DubH will be walking in the parade with several stops to perform their routine. Their club includes 25 people.
“This campus hip-hop club has been practicing twice a week all semester for our Timberwolves performance, which took place this past weekend, and will be using this routine for the parade. This group stands out because of the high energy of the music and the dancers. We have a passion for what we do,” said President Kristen Wiedenski.
The Line Dancing Club:
Members of the Line Dancing Club have been practicing since January for not just this performance, but learning piece-by-piece for other performances, different techniques and rhythms to help with this performance. There are a little more than 20 members.
This club believes they stand out because “We are a young club and demonstrate an old western dance that is modernized and everyone can do,” said President Samantha Green.
The Orchesis II Dance Club
Orchesis II is a very large group and will be performing a range of genres from contemporary to hip-hop. They have been practicing all semester, perfecting specific skills leading up to one of their last performances of the year at Veishea.
The Orchesis I Dance Club
Orchesis I will be performing a range of genres from contemporary to modern to hip hop. There are more than 30 members, and they have been rehearsing since the beginning of the semester.
“We are very excited to show off our talents and tell everyone [with our feet] how much we love to dance,” said Celia Harbcheck, vice president of Orchesis I.
