March 4, 2013
Following an agreement with a Polaroid licensee, C&A Licensing, Socialmatic LLC will be creating a Polaroid branded digital camera. The camera shares the same design features of Instagram’s logo.
“We are so proud to work together with C & A and Polaroid, giants of digital photography.” – said Mr. Antonio De Rosa, CEO of Socialmatic in a press release. “It ‘s been a long and difficult negotiation but we were strongly motivated to reach an agreement to create a small revolution in digital photography. This mix of Hardware and Software, together with our brand new photo social network will fill the gap between virtuality and reality.”
The camera has a built-in printer and the ability to apply filters. The photo print-out has its own QR code for following the photo online.
It will also come with a reported 16GB of internal storage with WiFi and 3G connectivity, and an SC-HD slot for external storage. The Android-based operating system will be displayed on a 4.3-inch touchscreen.
Additionally, the photos can be shared on Socialmatic’s own community along with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and sent with Email or MMS.
While design and specifications are still under development, the camera is expected to be released in 2014.
