Men’s golf tied for fifth at Furman Intercollegiate

The ISU men’s golf team shot a first round score of 292 to enter the weekend in sixth place in Greenville, S.C. 

Virginia Tech leads the field of 21 teams with a score of 280, while North Florida (284), Winthrop (285), Western Carolina (287) and Chattanooga (290) round out the top five spots at the Furman Intercollegiate.

The Cyclones are led by sophomore Scott Fernandez, who shot a round of 69, tied for fifth individually. Fernandez topped his one-under front 9 with an eagle on the 15th hole to finish three-under.

The rest of the Cyclone scorecard is filled out by Collin Foster (73), Zach Steffen (74), and Sam Daley (76). 

The Furman Intercollegiate will resume with the second round on Saturday and the third and final round on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
