A woman charged with setting fire to Saint Thomas Aquinas Church was sentenced to two concurrent 10-year terms in prison.

Tina Meyer, 51, of Ames was originally charged with first-degree arson after an altercation at the church in September 2012 led to a fire in an upstairs room. The charges were reduced to second-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief.

Meyer was an immediate suspect, according to members of the church who were present during the fire. Witnesses stated they saw her car in the parking lot, and she was seen leaving on foot.

In October 2012, Meyer was arrested and detained in the Story County Jail until her trial was completed Feb. 2, 2013.
