The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for Story County through noon Wednesday, Feb. 27. There will be heavy snowfall, with snow accumulations expected to be an inch per hour at the most. Lighter snowfall is expected through Wednesday.

It is recommended by the National Weather Service not to travel unless there is an emergency. 20-30 mph winds will cause snow drifts and reduced visibility.

The City of Ames will go into a snow ordinance starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
