Christy Johnson-Lynch is staying put.

Following a Sweet 16 berth last fall, which was part of the ISU volleyball team’s seventh consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, the coach has agreed to a new seven-year contract that will keep her at Iowa State through 2019.

“I feel very lucky and blessed to be part of such a great institution and athletics department,” Johnson-Lynch said in a news release. “I love my job, I enjoy the people I work with and work for, and my hope is to continue to build Iowa State volleyball into a national championship contender.”

In eight seasons at the helm of the volleyball program Johnson-Lynch has turned the Cyclones into one of the nation’s top programs. Iowa State is one of seven teams in the nation to advance to the Sweet 16 five times since 2007.

“Christy has a vision and the accompanying game plan to create and sustain a championship level program,” said Calli Sanders, ISU senior associate athletics director. “Her teams have distinguished themselves on the court and in the classroom, and the foundation she built positions us for continued success.”

The ISU athletic department said full terms of the agreement will be available at a later date.
