Out 2 Lunch: Intersections of Identity
February 27, 2013
LGBT Student Services is hosting the “Out 2 Lunch” event titled Intersections of Identity on Thursday.
Out 2 Lunch is part of the larger Safe Zone program at Iowa State University.
According to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Student Services website, “the purpose of the Safe Zone program is to eliminate homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism on the Iowa State University Campus”
This Out 2 Lunch event will run from 12 to 1:15pm on February 28 in 0020 Hixson-Lied.
The event is held in collaboration with Multicultural Student affairs to focus on the intersections of identities in relation to sexuality and gender.
The goal of Intersections of identity is to describe the impact intersecting identities have had on LGBT students at Iowa State and to give strategies for ally students to help embrace all parts of students identities.
The trainings offered through Safe Zone encourage understanding and non-judgment. Everyone is welcome to this session there is no registration.
Out 2 Lunch topics go further into depth on the topics and knowledge presented in Safe Zone 101, but that training is not necessary to attend an Out 2 Lunch event.
