ISCORE
February 28, 2013
The Iowa State Conference on Race and Ethnicity (ISCORE) is Friday. ISCORE is a conference for members of the Iowa State University community and their guests and is set up to mimic the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE).
“The conference [ISCORE] assists institutions of higher education in creating inclusive environments, improving campus racial and ethnic relations, and expanding opportunities for access to education for traditionally underrepresented populations,” according to www.iscore.iastate.edu.
The conference consists of 21 different sessions offered during the day. A different Iowa State University student helps lead each session at ISCORE. The conference begins at 8 am and ends at 5pm.
All of the student presenters attended NCORE last year and share information from the national conference. For a complete list of sessions, go to http://www.las.iastate.edu/iscore2013/.
ISCORE is offered at no charge, but registration is required; it is a two page online form that asks for student information and what events will be attended. The registration form can be found at http://www.iscore.iastate.edu/student/.
President Leath and Mary Jo Gonzales, associate dean of students, will give opening remarks starting at 9:00 am in the Sun Room. There will be a reception concluding ISCORE after the last sessions.
