Tight ends coach headed to Utah State
January 8, 2013
ISU tight ends coach Luke Wells is officially heading to Utah State, the school confirmed earlier this week.
Wells will be a co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach upon joining the staff of his brother, Matt, who was hired as the team’s new coach in December.
“It’s an incredible opportunity not only professionally, but personally as well,” Wells said in the news release. “I’m excited for the chance to come to a university that’s been extremely successful on the football field and won a bunch of games, and to be part of an explosive offense that’s going to put points on the board.”
The Aggies, who will be joining the Mountain West Conference with the dissolving of the WAC, just capped off an 11-2 season and a No. 16 ranking in the final AP top 25 poll.
Wells spent four seasons as part of Paul Rhoads’ staff, his first two as the wide receivers coach and the latter two as the tight ends coach.
No word has been given on how soon Rhoads will find a replacement on his staff.
