The ISU wrestling team won its dual meet at West Virginia on Saturday afternoon by a dominating score of 30-3.

The Cyclones (5-3, 1-1 Big 12) extended their dual meet winning streak to four with Saturday’s victory, the longest such streak since the start of the 2010-11 season.

Iowa State also picked up its first Big 12 victory of the season, ending a conference winless streak that dates back to February 2010.

The Cyclones lost only one match to the Mountaineers (1-6, 0-3 Big 12) on Saturday, as No. 14 Nathan Pennisi of West Virginia defeated ISU redshirt sophomore Luke Goettl 5-1 at 141 pounds.

ISU redshirt senior Matt Gibson concluded the day by pinning Phil Mandzik in 5:39 at 285 pounds.

Kyven Gadson, ranked No. 9 at 197 pounds by Intermat, earned an 11-4 victory against West Virginia’s A.J. Vizcarrondo on Saturday, further improving his season record to 14-2.

The other three Cyclones that are also ranked by Intermat, Michael Moreno (No. 19 at 165), Boaz Beard (No. 19 at 184) and Tanner Weatherman (No. 20 at 174), were also victorious on Saturday.

The Cyclones’ next competition is Friday against Arizona State in Ames.
