Iowa State loses 18th straight at Oklahoma State

For the 18th straight time, the ISU men’s basketball team has gone to Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla., and has lost. 

The Cyclones (14-6, 4-3) fell short in a back and forth game to Oklahoma State (14-5, 4-3), 78-76. 

Iowa State led at halftime, 41-37 after a Marcus Smart bank shot cut the lead to four at the buzzer. 

The second half was back and forth the entire game, before Marcus Smart gave the Cowboys the lead with his 21st point of the game with a runner over Georges Niang with 2.1 seconds left. 

After a sequence of referee confusion, Iowa State was left with a Tyrus McGee desperation 3-pointer that missed. 

Chris Babb led Iowa State with 19 points, making five of his six 3-pointers. The Cyclones shot a combined 13-24 from behind the arc on the game. 

Georges Niang followed Babb with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Will Clyburn added 14 points. 

The Cyclones play Baylor on Saturday at 7 p.m.
