Despite being the lowest scoring game of the season, the ISU men’s basketball team picked up its first Big 12 road win Saturday.

Iowa State (13-4, 3-1 Big 12) beat Big 12 newcomer TCU (9-9, 0-5) 63-50 in Fort Worth, Texas, even though the team had 16 turnovers and allowed the Horned Frogs to bring in 15 offensive rebounds.

The Cyclones were led by Melvin Ejim as the forward scored 10 points to go along with 12 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. Guard Tyrus McGee had a game-high 16 points off the bench on 7-of-13 shooting.

TCU was hurt by poor free throw shooting. Although the Horned Frogs reached the line 22 times, they made only nine shots from the charity stripe.

Iowa State went just 5-of-18 from beyond the arc in a rare slow shooting game. The Cyclones entered the game having scored 70 points in all but one game, which came Wednesday when they scored 69 against West Virginia.

The team will be on the road Wednesday against Texas Tech. Tipoff in that game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
