Jared Barnett will be transferring to Illinois State, he confirmed on Twitter on Jan. 17.

Barnett was part of the quarterback carousel the past two seasons, jostling for a starting role with Steele Jantz and Sam Richardson. In his two seasons, Barnett started nine games with a 4-5 record, completing 162-of-328 passes for 1,825 yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Under NCAA rules, Barnett will be eligible to play next season because Illinois State is not an FBS school. Barnett will be a redshirt junior next season.
