STILLWATER, Okla. — Iowa State trails Oklahoma State 17-10 at halftime from Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.

The Cyclones (4-2, 1-2 Big 12) began the game with a 79-yard drive the resulted in a touchdown pitch on the option from Jared Barnett to Jeff Woody. That drive marked the first time Oklahoma State (3-2, 1-1) did not score first for the first time this season.

The tug of war between the two teams then ensued as the Cowboys struck back with a 62-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown run by Joseph Randle thanks to multiple penalties by the Cyclones that breathed new life in third-and-long situations.

Iowa State relied heavily on the arm of Jared Barnett, who finished the half 16-of-27 for 169 yards and one touchdown. Aside from a 20-yard run by Barnett in the opening drive, the offense has accumulated just 10 yards rushing.

Oklahoma State took its first lead of the game with a 74-yard touchdown connection between J.W. Walsh and Charlie Moore early in the second quarter to drive the score to 17-10.

Deon Broomfield forced a fumble on a 15-yard pass to Josh Stewart near the goal line, but was ruled down at the 3-yard line despite taking it out to the ISU 46. Iowa State stalled and was forced to punt in a quick three-and-out.

The Cyclones will kick off to begin the second half.
