Kevin Truong, a senior in software engineering at Iowa State, was killed Thursday by a vehicle collision in Des Moines.
Truong, was operating a “passenger car” when it was struck by an SUV around 2:50 a.m., according to a press release from the Des Moines Police Department. Alexandria Mae Newton has been charged in relation to the incident with:

According to the press release, “excessive speed is being considered as a major contributing factor to this crash,” and investigators have evidence “the SUV that Newton was operating ran a red light immediately prior to crashing into Truong’s vehicle.”
