North Iowa Bulls top Cyclone Hockey
October 12, 2012
Playing without freshman forward Austin Parle and four seniors, the Cyclone Hockey team came out to a seemingly slow start against the North Iowa Bulls on Friday, being held scoreless in the first period of the 5-2 loss.
The Bulls, however, did not wait long to tally their first goal of the game, deflecting the puck past goalie Paul Karus at the 6:05 mark. The first period ended with the Bulls in the lead 1-0.
The Bulls once again came out fast in the second period, scoring their second goal of the game at 1:46 in the period. Both teams squandered the opposition’s power plays throughout the second period.
With 6.8 seconds left in the second period, Iowa State (6-3-1) was headed to another scoreless period when junior forward Chris Cucullu slipped the puck past the Bull’s goalie to tack on the first goal of the match for the Cyclones.
The second period came to a close with the Cyclones trailing 2-1.
Iowa State continued its productivity in the third period scoring 12:18 into the period on a goal from junior forward Jon Feavel, tying the score 2-2.
The Bulls weren’t far behind, putting one past Karus to retake the lead 3-2.
After tallying two more goals with less than one minute to go in the third, North Iowa closed out a 5-2 win.
The Cyclones take the ice again next Friday and Saturday at 7:30 against Robert Morris.
