Paris Fashion Week Spring ’13: Dior
September 9, 2012
Addressing back to the date of February 12th, 1947 when Christian Dior opened his house and presented his first fashion line to the world, we must applaud designer Raf Simons for never looking back.
When taking a peek at the remarkable 55 looks that Dior presented at Paris Fashion Week words such as daring and creatively sophisticated instantly come to mind. The Dior show began with tried-and-true black blazers as well as dresses that would fit any occasion day or night. Coming down the catwalk a moment later there begins a feeling of simple beauty when Dior presents strapless iridescent glossy pastel tops with an occasional hint of neon and black bike shorts.
A-line baby doll cut mini dresses were next up in a variety of colors, patterns, and lengths which allowed us as viewers to imagine our own interpretations of how and when to wear this piece. Each model was shown with her hair slicked back and makeup overemphasized. This worked well showing the sophistication and strength of the woman wearing the attire.
Taken out of this magnificent Christian Dior runway show is the suggestion of beautiful simplicity. This spring of 2013 is about the feeling of elegant power. So when deciding on your spring wardrobe choices, explore the idea of belted blazers and iridescent pastels while also adding your personal touch to make the outfit your own. Best said by Christian Dior himself, “An accent is that little personal touch which makes a dress designed by a couturier your own dress.”
