September 21, 2012
Jake Calhoun, sports editor (12-9)
Dean Berhow-Goll, assistant sports editor (16-5)
Alex Halsted, assistant sports editor (12-9)
Stephen Koenigsfeld, sports online editor (15-6)
Guest Pick: None this week (15-6)
No. 15 Kansas State vs. No. 6 Oklahoma
Jake Calhoun: Oklahoma — Bill Snyder remembers the Trail of Tears like it was yesterday.
Dean Berhow-Goll: Oklahoma — Don’t get me wrong, I love Collin Klein, but Landry Jones is prime for a coming out party.
Alex Halsted: Oklahoma — Boomer Sooner. Oklahoma wins this one in a high-scoring game.
Stephen Koenigsfeld: Oklahoma — College football fans really win in this one. Going to be a hard-fought game. Sooners by three.
No. 18 Michigan vs. No. 11 Notre Dame
Calhoun: Notre Dame — Catholic School USA vs. Denard. This should be a good game.
Berhow-Goll: Michigan — Upset city! Love me some Denard Robinson.
Halsted: Notre Dame — This may be the season Notre Dame finally lives up to the expectations it’s given each year.
Koenigsfeld: Notre Dame — Saturday night mass should be over before this game kicks off.
No. 2 LSU vs. Auburn
Calhoun: LSU — Gene Chizik’s seat is hotter than his checkbook was after Cam Newton’s campus visit.
Berhow-Goll: LSU — Chizik’s about to be as involved in football as Tyrann Mathieu this year.
Halsted: LSU — Gene Chizik is lucky to have eeked out a victory against Louisiana-Monroe last week.
Koenigsfeld: LSU — Tigers versus Tigers. I choose the Tigers to come out on top.
California vs. No. 13 USC
Calhoun: USC — There will be more bros at this game than there were at Dean’s tanning party.
Berhow-Goll: USC — My bros and I still love Matt Barkley.
Halsted: USC — It’s unfortunate for Cal that USC lost last week. Lane Kiffin hates the media, and his team isn’t very happy either following the loss.
Koenigsfeld: USC — Trojans are coming off a hard loss. Looking for a rebound against what should be an easy win.
Colorado vs. Washington State
Calhoun: Washington State — Two awful teams in the Pac-12 actually makes for a very watchable game for me. Plus I love Mike Leach Wazzu.
Berhow-Goll: Washington State — #FireCraigJames
Halsted: Washington State — Neither team is very good, but Colorado is terrible. Plus, how can you pick against Mike Leach?
Koenigsfeld: Washington State — If Wazzu wins, I’ll take Mike Leach’s dating advice.
Rutgers vs. Arkansas
Calhoun: Rutgers — Even Tyler Wilson thinks Rutgers is going to win.
Berhow-Goll: Arkansas — Tyler Wilson returns and gives the Razorbacks a much needed lift.
Halsted: Rutgers — A Big East team beating a team from the SEC? Never thoughts I’d do that. But I never thought Arkansas would get beat by Louisiana-Monroe.
Koenigsfeld: Arkansas — As long as Tyler Wilson doesn’t call dibs on all-time offense, Arkansas will come out on top.
No. 10 Clemson vs. No. 4 Florida State
Calhoun: Florida State — Pam Ward is to ACC football what Jar Jar Binks is to Star Wars.
Berhow-Goll: Florida State — Giving it to the home team. Watch Xavier Rhodes match up with Sammy Davis for two future NFLers.
Halsted: Florida State — Close game, but I’m taking the home team to prevail.
Koenigsfeld: Florida State — I laughed when some said Florida State would be the national champions. Now, I’m only snickering.
